There are few singer/songwriter piano players I love as much as Randy Newman. His voice, oddly frog-like and even more strangely soothing, gently croons about love, yells ironies for the ages, and answers tough questions, all to the sweet sound of beautiful piano.
His songs are not only amusing, but somewhat controversial, like Short People and Rednecks. I Think It's Going to Rain Today is a perfect soundtrack to falling asleep, his voice raw and tender and hurting, backed by piano and violin.
